"La Petite Maison" 376 First Street Sointula, BC

We invite you to stay in our charming waterfront cottage when visiting picturesque Sointula on Malcolm Island:
Malcolm Island has been named one of the top ten Islands in Canada to visit by Canadian Geographic
It truely is a little piece of heaven . Originally settled by Finns with the intention of creating their own Utopia, Sointula
translates from the Finnish word for Harmony. Today, many of the ancestors of the original settlers still reside on the
Island. The village amenities include the second oldest Co-Op general store in Canada, a hardware store, gas station,
pub, coffee shop and bakery. There is also a lending library, museum, medical clinic and marina. Bere point, 3 kms from
town, has a camp ground, whale rubbing beach and hiking trails abound across the Island and along the beaches. The
net lofts, working fish boats and net mending docks as well as Eagles, Mink, Herons and endless vistas are musts for
camera buffs and wildlife enthusiasts.
La Petite Maison is located on the water facing West, within an easy stroll (or ride on one of the two bikes that come
with the cottage) to the village or marina. The sloping lawn is ideal for croquet, bocce or just relaxing to the sound of
the waves lapping on the beach, which is an ideal launching spot for kayaks. The decks provide lots of space for dinner
parties or lounging with a book.
